If the acid gas content of the sweetened gas exceeds sales specifications, the following areas should be investigated:

• insufficient amine circulation rate:

-operating problems with the train’s online charge amine pump

-speed of online charge amine pumps too low

-amine booster pump operating problems

-low level in the amine surge tank

• insufficient amine regeneration:

-insufficient stripping steam/reboiler heat input

-insufficient amine still reflux

-incorrect amine still pressure

-contaminated or degraded amine

-plugged amine still valve trays

-too low a amine flow through Amine regenerator

-internal leakage problems at lean/rich amine exchangers causing rich amine to leak into lean amine

• different operating conditions:

-lean amine too hot

-amine contactor pressure too low

-too high a gas flow through contactor

-amine concentration too high or too low

-too high a gas flow through contactor
