Gas Spec Issues(TEG)

If the water content of the gas leaving the TEG dehydration process exceeds sales specifications, the following areas should be investigated:

  • insufficient TEG regeneration:
-insufficient stripping steam/reboiler heat input?
-incorrect TEG recovery from TEG drain tank—too much water-laden TEG pumped to TEG reboiler?
-incorrect TEG stripping column pressure?
-contaminated or degraded TEG?
-plugged TEG stripping column packing?
-too low a TEG flow through TEG stripping column?
-insufficient stripping (fuel) gas admitted to the small supplementary stripper?
  • insufficient TEG circulation rate:
-TEG pump speed too low?
-TEG pump bypass lines open or passing pump bypass valves?
-low level in TEG accumulator?
  • different operating conditions:
-lean TEG entering contactor too hot?
-too high a gas flow through contactor?
-higher water content in the incoming gas?
-low TEG contactor pressure?
