TEG Losses

The TEG dehydration process may experience some loss of TEG. However, in case of heavy losses or a sudden change in the TEG losses, the following areas should be investigated:

• excessive TEG lost from contactor:

-excessive gas flow causing entrainment flooding?

-incoming lean TEG too hot?

• excessive TEG lost from TEG stripping column:

-reflux coil cooling properly to condense carryover vaporized TEG?

-reboiler/stripping steam temperature too hot?

-liquid hydrocarbons flooding column?

• physical TEG leaks:

-heat exchangers or vessel leaks?

-pump, flange, or valve leaks?
